There is a lot to appreciate about this transitional and seldom seen Omega model. The 35mm diameter of the 18k gold case gives the watch elegance and presence. There are lots of stylistic details that add visual interest – from the uniquely sculpted lugs that intrigue from every angle, the playfully varied geometric hour indicators, to the curves of the Breguet-style numeral “12”.
The edges and surfaces of the case and lugs are well preserved, as is the accuracy of the self-winding movement caliber 352. Given the age of the watch, this movement features the earlier bumper-type rotor. This oversized Omega dress watch is hard to find at this price point, even with a restored dial and engraved case back such as this.
The coveted chronometer designation of this model indicates that the watch has passed more stringent precision tests, in order to be certified by the COSC Testing Institute (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres).
