“The Watch of Railroad Accuracy… a Watch Should Be Accurate as Well as Beautiful” was the motto of one of Hamilton’s ad campaigns from the early 20’s. The present dress model, from the same era, exemplifies that magnificently.

The high level of accuracy of this pocket watch is made possible by the top-grade cal. 920 movement. It is adjusted to 5 positions, boasting 23 gold-set jewels and elaborate damascening on bridges. The quality of craftmanship continues to the case and dial. The fancy double-sunken dial in sterling silver, centered by a hand-engraved leaf motif, is framed beautifully by a white gold case that is just as elaborate. The engraved stylized olive branches that adorn the bezel, case back, and bow are surprisingly well preserved, as are the dial and blued-steel hands.

Few other pieces evoke an era as well as this pocket watch does, and to find an example that is even today as accurate and in a condition that is as excellent as this, makes this watch that much more exciting.
