IWC Schaffhausen
Caliber 852, Automatic
circa 1951

$3,500.00

As one of IWC’s more unusual and rarely seen models of the early 1950’s, this wristwatch combines technical prowess and great design. The fluid lines of one-piece/monocoque and heavy case in 18k gold, the elongated lugs, and domed back are signature elements of this watch model. The larger 35mm diameter makes it both striking and versatile. The patina of the untouched dial and great overall condition of this wristwatch add to its desirability.

This IWC is fitted with the self-winding cal. 852, which was also used for the 1st generation of this brand’s most iconic tool watch – the Ingenieur. Introduced in 1952, cal. 852 featured the revolutionary Pellaton winding system, which allowed energy to be transferred from the rotor more efficiently and with less wear.
