Orion, Swiss
Dress Pocket Watch
14k Green Gold
circa 1928

SOLD

This beautifully preserved gold dress pocket watch aptly showcases the sophistication of the Jazz Age of the 1920’s. The very slim profile of this elegant example and the high-level engraving are a great indication of the quality of this watch.  As further proof of the quality of this Swiss timepiece is the fact that, at the time, an extremely low percentage of pocket watches were cased in gold. From these, even fewer featured this unique hue of gold. The slight tinge of green was achieved by mixing the gold with other metals, such as silver and zinc.

The high-grade Swiss movement with 17 jewels is adjusted to five positions. The fine texturing of the hinged bezel and bow are in excellent condition, as are the many Classical Revival decorations engraved on the edge of the case, back, and dial. The less common diamond-style hands in blued-steel complete the great elegance of this pocket watch.
